Joe Cooper Dodge of Shawnee

Happy Halloween! Are you excited it’s the official weekend of spookiness? We sure are but before he put on our witch costume or superhero cape, we have a few tips that will help you and your family stay safe and healthy all Halloween weekend long! We encourage you to check out those tips below and if you’re looking for ways to stay in this weekend, we even have tips for you there, too! Check it all out below and be sure to put these to good use to ensure your safety is taken to the next level this October!

Spooky Movie Night

  • Things definitely look a lot different this year so maybe it’s time to switch up those traditions! Like having a spooky movie night instead of heading out to trick or treat! Of course, we recommend some fan-favorite age-appropriate movies like Hocus Pocus, The Addams Family, or Hocus Pocus! Did we say that one twice?!

Virtual Costume Parties –

  • Today’s age offers plenty of technology to a wide variety of audiences which means you can use them to your advantage this Halloween weekend! We recommend setting a time with friends and family that you all can join and enjoy the time together! And don’t forget to pass out the virtual candy!

Make Masks A Costume Prop –

  • We know that it might be difficult to get your kiddos to wear those masks but if you make it part of their costume, you might have a winning way to stay safe this weekend. Some great options are surgeons, superheroes, or even evil characters! Be sure to double line with an approved mask!

Outdoor Community Events –

  • If your community is having a few outdoor events, we encourage you to attend but be safe and mindful of you and your family while in attendance. Be sure to pack your masks and extras in case. Hand sanitizer is also a must-have these days. Always choose events where physical distancing and one-way walkthroughs are enforced. As always, remind your children of potential dangers when out and about and to always be on alert.

So, you now have the tips to stay safe this weekend, it’s time to upgrade into a brand new CJDR to arrive in style this spooky season! Hurry on in to see our team to take a test drive in what could be your brand new CJDR this October. Browse our online inventory, schedule a test drive, and even get pre-approved before stopping in. We look forward to helping you get behind the wheel – see you soon!

Have you picked up a few bad driving habits over the years? We get it – we’re in the same boat as you. But this October, we’re breaking free from those bad habits! Below is a list of 8 eights that you might have found yourself practicing and why it’s important to break those habits. Once you’re done, we encourage you to browse our online inventory and schedule a test drive with our team to ensure you’re practicing those safe driving tips in a safe new CJDR this October! Let’s talk driving habits first, check out those details below!

Failing to signal.

  • It’s important to let other drivers and pedestrians know your next move so they can slow down and accommodate. We recommend signaling at least 100 feet in advance.

Riding the brakes.

  • Riding your brakes can cause excess strain on your brakes. Keep your foot off the brake and only use when/ if necessary.

Rolling through stop signs.

  • We know this is a habit many struggle with but to ensure everyone’s safety, it’s important to come to a complete stop at any and every intersection you approach.

Slowing down to look at crashes or construction.

  • Rubbernecking is not only dangerous, but can contribute to a chain reaction of slowed traffic and potential crashes. Keep your eyes on the road ahead of you to ensure you’re following road rules or police directions.

Sudden stops.

  • Always be on alert and anticipate when you might need to stop. Sudden stops will create  excess wear on brake pads.

Fast starts.

  • Accelerate at a slow smooth rate, peeling away uses excess gas, and may be putting a strain on the key components of your engine.

Running yellow or red lights.

  • Doing so can increase your chance of a car crash. If the light turns yellow before you reach the intersection, it’s best not to risk it and wait for the next green light.

Disregarding the speed limit.

  • While speed limits vary by state and are typically posted, we recommend using the following ranges as a general guide if you don’t see a posted speed limit:
    • Residential area: 15-30 mph
    • Undivided road (rural): 40-55 mph
    • Divided road (rural): 55-70 mph
    • Freeway: 55-65 mph

Cleaning your ride shouldn’t be a hassle. It shouldn’t take up your entire weekend. And it shouldn’t leave you frustrated. This week, we have three ways to focus on your vehicle so you can get the job done quickly and easily in your free time. We encourage you to take a look at those tips below, get out there to clean up your ride, and celebrate a fresh start to a new month! And as always, if you’re ready to upgrade into a brand new CJDR – come see our team right here this month!

Undercarriage Cleaning

  • Many car owners always keep the visible parts of their vehicle clean and sparkly. But what about the undercarriage of your vehicle? While your vehicle’s undercarriage is always just inches off the ground, it’s important to clean up and get rid of any road-borne impurities that come in contact with your undercarriage. Especially with slush and road salt quickly approaching in the upcoming winter months. It’s important to clean it well, clean it often.

Exterior Protection

  • This is a little easier but still a task that takes a bit of elbow grease to complete and complete right. Impurities that lie hidden in moisture can lead to slowly eating away at your paint job, no matter how good it is. It’s important to ensure your car is waxed periodically and put that protective barrier between your paint and the elements!

Interior cleaning

  • Everything you tread on outside of your vehicle always makes its way inside your car at one point or another. While it may be difficult to get out the vacuum and get into all the nooks and crannies, it’s extremely important to do so. Apart from the feeling that comes from being in a clean interior, you don’t want to find yourself with upholstery damage because you neglected to clean your ride. Get out that vacuum and make it sparkle. And a pro tip, add a new air freshener to freshen up the interior smell of your vehicle!

From the little things to the small stuff, the service team at Joe Cooper Dodge Jeep can assist you with all of your vehicle needs. This week we are focusing on treating your vehicle to fall service before the season officially changes! Take a look at our guide below, schedule your service appointment online today, and be sure to grab a service offer before stopping in to see us! We look forward to working with you and your CJDR this season – see you soon!

Car Battery

  • With the changes of seasons coming quickly, it’s a great time to stop in to see our team for a diagnostic testing to ensure that your battery is healthy and ready to take on the winter temperatures. Plus, ask to have your cables and terminals checked for corrosion and properly tightened. Winter is known for killing batteries, stop in, and let’s have your battery properly maintenanced before the change of seasons!

Headlights

  • As our cars age, our headlights tend to become cloudy or even hazy, especially on vehicles that are continuously parked outside in the elements. While the days get shorter, we will be using our headlights much more these days which means it’s very important to ensure that your headlights are the brightest they could possibly be. Whether it’s a headlight conditioning, replacement of the bulbs, or replacing your headlights altogether, our team can assist you with all of your needs.

Tires

  • Responsible driving all starts at the tires. Monthly tread inspections can help you stay on top of when it’s time to replace your tires. If you have noticed that your tires are less than ⅛-inch of tread, then it’s time to upgrade. While all-season tires might be a cheaper option up front, choosing a set for both summer and winter, offers more well-rounded performance. Stop in to see our team and let us help you choose the right tires for your vehicle!

Wipers

  • Did you know that it’s a great option to replace your wipers every six months? Typically, your wipers should be replaced twice a year to ensure top performance. Before the fall season, it’s a great option to upgrade those wipers and choose a pair that are specifically designed for winter weather as we are quickly heading that way. Also, if you’re looking to extend the lifespan of your wipers, we encourage you to clean them with a paper towel and glass cleaner each time you stop to get gas.
